Due thanks to the poet of Music Franco Battiato
Musically, I got to know him with the song 'Fisiognomica', where some of the verses stuck with me indelibly.
"...but if you feel bad
turn to the Lord,
believe me
we are nothing,
of the miserable streams
without Source.'
I knew a sick person in Calabria who had been operated on in France and was far from God.
When you are sick and the doctors deny you Hope, you cannot turn to your dog or cat, but neither can you turn to your neighbour. In Necessity is our Return to God.
Battiato clearly pointed it out! I decided that I would give him the song.
At the entrance to the Salerno motorway, I bought a pirated cassette of Battiato and realised that all the songs were good. When I got to Camigliatello I gave it to him. Naturally, I bought another one for myself.
Battiato knew how to recreate exotic or northern atmospheres, refined and cultured, never banal.
He has been a good travelling companion in our lives.
Thank you Maestro Battiato
and goodbye in the beautiful Homeland of Heaven!
